UAT Statement on Modern Slavery, Forced Labour & Child Labour Prevention
At UAT, we are fully committed to conducting our business ethically, responsibly, and in full compliance with all applicable laws and human rights standards. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach toward any form of modern slavery, child labour, forced labour, or exploitation within our operations. This commitment applies to all activities performed at our factory premises, and it reflects our responsibility to protect the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of every individual involved in our workplace.
Zero Tolerance for Child Labour
UAT strictly prohibits the use of child labour in any form. We do not employ or allow the engagement of underage workers for any job performed within our factory premises. We ensure that all employees meet the legal minimum working age requirement as per local laws and regulations. We recognize that child labour is a serious violation of basic human rights and actively work to prevent any risk of such practices within our organization.
Prohibition of Forced Labour and Exploitation
UAT does not tolerate or permit any form of forced or compulsory labour. This includes, but is not limited to:
Forced labour or involuntary work
Debt bondage or bonded labour
Human trafficking
Withholding of wages or identity documents
Any form of coercion, threats, intimidation, or restriction of movement
Descent-based slavery or discrimination-linked exploitation
All employment at UAT is freely chosen. Every worker has the right to work voluntarily, to understand their employment terms clearly, and to leave employment in accordance with applicable notice requirements and national labour laws.
Compliance with Legal and Ethical Standards
UAT strongly condemns all forms of modern slavery and exploitation in line with our internal governance systems and compliance practices. We operate in accordance with relevant local labour laws, and we align our commitment with the requirements and principles of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. We view compliance not only as a legal obligation, but also as a fundamental responsibility to uphold ethical business conduct and promote safe working conditions.
Controls, Monitoring, and Responsible Practices
To ensure continuous compliance and prevention, UAT maintains practical measures designed to reduce risk and strengthen workplace controls. These measures include:
Verification of employee identity and age during hiring and onboarding
Transparent employment documentation and clear communication of job terms
Prohibition on retention of personal documents such as national ID cards or passports
Ensuring wages are paid fairly, on time, and directly to workers through approved processes
Safe and respectful working conditions supported by workplace policies and supervision
Oversight of recruitment practices to ensure ethical hiring and prevent exploitation
Reporting and Accountability
UAT encourages a culture of responsibility and openness. Any employee, supervisor, or visitor who observes or suspects any act that may involve exploitation, child labour, or forced labour is expected to report it immediately through appropriate channels. Concerns will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and addressed with corrective actions where required. We ensure that reporting can be made without fear of retaliation.
Continuous Improvement Commitment
UAT is strongly committed to continually improving our systems, controls, and awareness to prevent any occurrence of modern slavery-related risks. We regularly review our internal practices and aim to strengthen training, compliance checks, and management accountability. Where gaps are identified, we take timely corrective steps to ensure alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
Our Promise
UAT remains committed to maintaining a workplace that is fair, lawful, safe, and respectful. We will continue to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and will not knowingly support, enable, or tolerate modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, or human trafficking in any form.
